Let’s cut right to it. The first thing you must understand about 55 and older communities in Las Vegas is that things are different now.
No longer can you think of Las Vegas 55 and up communities as stuffy, cookie-cutter neighborhoods filled with golf carts and daily games of bingo, labeled by the dreaded “senior community” term.
It’s simply no longer accurate.
We’re not just saying this because we’re huge fans of Las Vegas active adult 55+ community living with (somewhat) biased opinions. Regardless, this article was written to change the way you think about living in one of these transformative places.
We’re here to BUST 5 ridiculous myths about 55 and above communities in Las Vegas once and for all!
Sure, some people drive golf carts – mostly on any number of pristine golf courses found within the communities. But behind the walls and gates of these 55+ communities, you’re more likely to find new luxury vehicles than golf carts.
Although Las Vegas retirement communities are age-qualified, you shouldn’t think of them as stuffy places for ‘old’ people. In fact, most are completely the opposite of that image and are upscale, thriving places to live. Even the 55 and over condos in Las Vegas are thriving and vibrant places to live.
P.S. – Let’s stop using the term “senior”. We can’t stand it and are sure you don’t like to be referred to as one, either!
55 plus communities often sell home models, and some are easy to mistake for tract home developments. However, many active adult communities in Las Vegas have a variety of different home types available for resale; and new home communities offer you custom build and design options to make your home uniquely yours.
Nothing against these two activities (most communities still offer them), but there are far more activities available. Pickleball, tennis, lounging at the resort style pools and golf are some of the community favorites.
Once upon a time, retirement communities were thought of as low budget places for old people to live out their years. This is no longer true for those retiring in Las Vegas. Many homes start in the $300-400s and go up over $1 million. In fact, communities are now offering luxury homes designed exclusively for the way you want to live. Everyone wants to get their hands on a Las Vegas 55+ luxury home!
